Canteen received her first sea tour onboard USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) at Naval Station Norfolk (NSN), Norfolk, Va. She transferred to Combined Bachelor Quarters, Jacksonville, Fla. She served at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville at Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron (VP) 45, quickly completing her Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) qualifications. Master Chief Canteen’s tours have included Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA), Winter Harbor, Maine, serving as Galley Watch Captain and Barracks Petty Officer from 1995 to 1997. After completion of Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., she attended Culinary ‘A’ School at Naval Training Center San Diego, where she graduated at the top of her class with accelerated Third Class Petty Officer Advancement.
